Day 01 - Saturday Your guide will meet you at your Windhoek Hotel where your travel to the Kalahari Desert Region of Namibia. Endless lines of vegetated red dunes capture the imagination with yellow grass and green trees growing on their slopes and in the riverbeds. Day 02 Travel south to the picturesque Quiver Tree Forest near Keetmanshoop and Giant's Playground which is an impressive jumble of massive boulders, a virtual maze where time can be spent wandering through the extensive rocky labyrinth. Day 03 Start today with a guided tour of Fish River Canyon. The next leg of our Namibia tour takes us via the historic village of Aus and through the vast barren expanse of the Prohibited Diamond Area, to Lüderitz. After a short sightseeing tour of Luderitz, enjoy an afternoon visit to Diaz Cross where the daring Portuguese sailors erected a stone pillar in the 1480s. Day 04 After breakfast, travel to the famous ghost town of Kolmanskop and head inland across the impressive Neisip Plains to Helmeringhausen. Experience the changing landscape from mountain massif through white gravel plains to the towering red dunes. Proceed to the central Namib Desert. Day 05 Depart at sunrise for a tour of Sossusvlei, famous for its monumental star shaped dunes, some up to 325m when measured from the base. Climbing one of these dunes affords the energetic traveller with an unforgettable experience of endless vistas across a sea of Namibian Desert dunes. Day 06 & 07 Our destination today is the coastal town of Swakopmund via the Gaub and Kuiseb Canyons. Visit Namibia's ancient Welwitschia mirabilis. En route to Swakopmund, visit Moon Valley, an unusual view overlooking the landscape formed by the valleys of the Swakop River. Day 08 Travel northwards along the Atlantic Ocean coastal road to Henties Bay. Visit the Cape Cross Seal Reserve. It is here that one finds a small lichen reserve, where a small lichen reserve, where a relatively large variety of these interesting and slow growing organisms are protected. Day 09 Visit Twyfelfontein, a heritage site rich in thousands of bushman engravings and some ancient paintings, a virtual open-air museum. Geological features in the area include the Organ Pipes and Petrified Forest where millions of years ago giant tree trunks were deposited, which subsequently turned to stone. Day 10 & 11 Etosha National Park celebrates its 100th Birthday in 2007! Enjoy 2 days on safari in Etosha, home to the Big-5 and other uniquely adapted African animals. Etosha owes its unique landscape to the vast shallow depression - the Etosha Pan. Waterholes along the southern edge frequently offer a rewarding game viewing experience and include several rarer species such as Black and white rhino. Black-faced Impala are restricted to Namibia and southern Angola and the Damara dik-dik; the Parks smallest antelope is also endemic. Day 12 - Wednesday Travel to the town of Tsumeb, a mining town know for its copper, zinc, lead, silver and a variety of unusual crystals.. Whilst in the area, you will visit Lake Otjikoto where in 1915, the retreating German force dumped weapons to prevent them from falling into the hands of the South African Union Force. Several of these weapons have been recovered and can be viewed at the Tsumeb Museum. Return to Windhoek via the garden-town of Otjiwarongo and Kavango craft markets in Okahandja.
