Namibia

Introduction
Situated between African deserts, deltas and the Atlantic Ocean, Namibia derived its name from the Namib Desert, renowned for its desert safaris, unique African wildlife, game reserves and luxury safari hotels.
Namibia borders South Africa in the south, Botswana in the east, Angola and Zambia in the north. With an estimated population of 1.8 million Namibia’s population density is one of the lowest in the world.
Bountiful sunshine combined with an abundance of wildlife, scenic beauty, rich diversity of geological phenomena and a feeling of unconfined space make it a sought after destination. The friendliness of the people as well as the cultural diversity creates a rich blend of traditions.
A diverse landscape and culture is what makes Namibia a top safari destination in Africa. The Central Plateau in Namibia, with its thornbush savannah and rugged mountains houses Namibia’s capital city of Windhoek.

The West of Namibia is famously known as the Skeleton Coast, featuring the Namib Desert. Extending along the entire Atlantic coastline, this ancient desert is interspersed with dune belts, dry riverbeds and deeply eroded canyons. The premier holiday resort of Swakopmund nestles on this coastline with nearby Walvis Bay, the only deep-sea harbour being a key player in the fishing industry as well as import and export trade.
Namibia’s Southern region is home to solitary animals that have adapted to the desert in Sossusvlei. The diamond-mining town of Luderitz and the majestic Fish River Canyon are additional Namibia tourism highlights worth visiting, especially on a second visit.
In the North of Namibia, landscapes range from dense bush and open plains of the great Etosha Pan, to woodland savanna and lush vegetation.
Dinosaur footprints preserved in the sandstone, pre-historic rock art, and the ancient fossil plant, Welwitschia Miirabilis, bear witness to the rich natural history of Namibia. Desert elephants, nomadic Himba tribes and the allure of fishing expeditions in Angola are more gems to add to your Namibia safari.
